First Online High School

Founded in 1994, the Learning Springs offers over 100 web-based courses, including a full range of core courses from grades 5-12 and a wide selection of enrichment and elective courses for grades 4-12. Our courses accommodate all levels of student abilities, including at-risk, special needs, accelerated/honors, and traditional students. Our courses are standards-based across multiple state benchmarks and adhere to Bloom's Taxonomy of higher-level thinking.

It all began in 1993 when the Laurel Springs School (LSS), a leading national distance learning program, began the world's first online high school. Together with the Learning Springs (TLS), they developed a powerful content and learning management system called Aurora Learning, enriched with Laurel Springs' award-winning curricula. The Learning Springs distributes Aurora Learning to a wide range of students through educational institutions, organizations, and governments worldwide.

The Learning Springs and Laurel Springs School partnership has been a driving force in innovative distance learning programs. LSS is accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) and NISAC (National Independent Study Accreditation Council)

Virtual School Development

We make it easy for you to start your own virtual academy or eLearning program with 48 hour program set-ups, database training and secure online delivery through our innovative and comprehensive Aurora Learning program. Our vibrant and interactive courses are accessible and easy to use for students, teachers and administrators. Our easy to use system let's you enroll a student into any course at any time of year, and the student can proceed at any pace. You assign the teacher you want, or use one of our highly qualified instructors. Each user just logs into their account and everything is there for them to access. As students submit assignments, the teacher can grade the work, and everyone can view the results in the Gradebook immediatly.
